Koresin® is a tackifier that is used mostly in manufacturing high performance truck and car tires, and in making technical rubber articles. BASF has extensive product expertise, having produced this particular resin from acetylene and p-t-butylphenol for more than 60 years. Round the world, Koresin is recognized by the tire industry as the current benchmark for very high and extremely long tackiness. BASF’s customers include nearly all major tire manufacturers.
In contrast to other tackifiers, Koresin does not affect the vulcanization speed of semi-finished products. Thanks to this, and to the high and long-term tackiness performance, users of Koresin benefit from improved process reliability.
Another benefit of Koresin is that the compounds can be prefabricated and transported or stored for some time.
The use of Koresin is not limited to manufacturing technical rubber articles and high performance tires: It is also used in tire re-treading.
