Trimethylolpropane (TMP) |

Trimethylolpropane (TMP) is a major intermediate with a wide range of applications in the chemical industry, the main ones being polyurethanes, polyester polyols, polyether polyols, binders and adhesives, synthetic lubricants, polyester and alkyd resin coatings.
TMP with its three primary alcohol groups is used as a threedimensional crosslinking agent. It is a white solid at room temperature and easily melts to give a clear liquid at temperatures above its melting range of 58 – 60°C.
Our TMP production process is based on a unique technology developed by BASF in the 1990s. This worldwide first non- Cannizzaro process yields a very high purity product. BASF supplies TMPhydro® in flakes and molten material.

TMP has a wide variety of applications, with a quaternary structure providing:
- superior hydrolytic stability
- weatherability
- a good balance between hardness and flexibility
