Building Blocks |

BASF’s innovative technology platform and our extensive expertise in biocatalysis enable us to manufacture a wide range of building blocks. Our offer includes a large number of chiral intermediates and non-chiral specialties, e.g. heterocycles and acid chlorides. Under the ChiPros® trademark, BASF supplies the world’s most extensive portfolio of chiral amines, alcohols, epoxides, amino alcohols, aromatic and aliphatic alpha-hydroxy acids and beta-amino acids – and our portfolio is growing continually. By developing tailor-made building blocks we can assist you from early development to commercial stage.

New: Enoate Reductase Technology
To expand its ChiPros portfolio by adding chiral aldehydes, ketones, esters and nitro compounds, BASF has developed a new class of enzymes that can be utilized at the industrial scale: its proprietary enoate reductases – specifically modified biocatalysts - offer access to new chiral intermediates. The asymmetric bioreactions catalyzed by enoate reductases take place at ambient temperature and standard pressure. This allows very efficient and highly selective production of chemically sophisticated chiral molecules of outstanding optical purity.
